PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man believe to have robbed an elderly couple at their Phoenix home in January that later turned deadly.

Phoenix police say 35-year-old Michael Nelson is jailed on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault and two counts of armed robbery.

Police say 86-year-old Jack Cox suffered several broken ribs after he and his wife were robbed on Jan. 15.

He died of his injuries a few days later.

Last month, 82-year-old Patricia Cox went on television to plead for help in bringing the robber to justice.

She says the couple gave the man $60 after he told them his children didn’t have any food or diapers.

Patricia Cox says the man came back the next day and grabbed her purse and her husband fought with him.
