SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Rep. Chris Van Hollen is headed to Leisure World to campaign.

The Maryland Democrat who is running for U.S. Senate is scheduled for a meet-and-greet in the community of senior citizens in Silver Spring on Thursday.

Leisure World is one of the largest senior residential communities in Maryland.

It is a frequent stop for Maryland politicians, because the community is known for taking a high level of interest in government and politics.

Van Hollen is running for the Democratic nomination for Senate to succeed Sen. Barbara Mikulski, who is retiring at the end of her term. He is in a competitive primary with Rep. Donna Edwards.
