BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - The Brisbane Roar moved level on points with first-place Western Sydney after a 3-2 win over the Wanderers in the A-League on Friday.
Jamie Maclaren tucked away a Corona cross for his second goal of the night for the Roar in the 81st minute. Two minutes later, substitute Henrique, on a counterattack, passed to Dimitri Petratos, whose goal gave the Roar their winning margin.
Brisbane scored first very early through Maclaren, and Western Sydney couldn’t reply for almost 70 minutes. Andreu Guerao nailed a penalty and, four minutes later, they went ahead on Romeo Castelen’s goal.
The result left the Wanderers and Roar level on points, but with Western Sydney ahead on goal difference.
Third-place Adelaide, two points behind, could move ahead of both teams on Saturday if it beats Wellington in the New Zealand capital on Saturday.
