PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Cranston woman has pleaded no contest to mistreating a disabled woman in the group home where she worked.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says 33-year-old Vanessa Theodore was sentenced Friday to three years behind bars, with three months to serve, nine months of home confinement, and the remainder suspended with probation.

Theodore had been charged with one count of patient abuse and two counts of patient mistreatment.

Prosecutors say in May 2015, Theodore, who worked at the Perspectives Group Home in East Greenwich, physically assaulted and improperly restrained a physically and mentally disabled woman. The act was caught on surveillance video.

Another employee reported the abuse to supervisors.
