KYLE, Texas (AP) - A Texas State University student charged in the deaths of four people in a wrong-way crash on a highway near Kyle has been booked into jail.

Twenty-two-year-old Wilson Molinares is charged with four counts of manslaughter in the crash that killed 31-year-old Heinrich Martens, 27-year-old Margaretha Wall Hildebrandt, 30-year-old Gerhard Hiebert Peters and 16-month-old Jacob Wall Hiebert.

Authorities say Molinares was driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 35 when he crashed into the other vehicle Feb. 19.

Two girls, ages 6 and 3, survived the crash and are with family members.

Police waited until Thursday night to book Molinares into jail because he was seriously injured in the crash. Investigators are waiting on a toxicology report.

Molinares remains in Hays County Jail on a $1 million bond. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
