SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls police are beefing up their presence on social media.

The Argus Leader reports ( ) that 12 officers recently completed social media training, and the department has begun regularly posting to Twitter.

When new Police Chief Matt Burns began leading the department last October, he said one of his goals was to increase the department’s social media presence because that’s where a lot of people get their news and information.

Department spokesman Sam Clemens says the Twitter postings are “just the beginning step.”
