SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A Sioux City man charged in the fatal stabbing of another man has pleaded not guilty.
The Sioux City Journal (https://bit.ly/1RMQLgP ) reports that 47-year-old Elias Wanatee pleaded not guilty Friday to one count of first-degree murder.
Police say Wanatee had been arguing with 50-year-old Vernon Mace at Mace’s daughter’s house before stabbing him six times around 2 a.m. on Feb. 17. Mace later died at a hospital.
If convicted, Wanatee would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. His trial has been set for May 24.
