WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say a man is dead and a woman injured after a shooting in southeast Washington.

The Metropolitan Police Department says police officers were at the United Medical Center in southeast Washington on Friday afternoon when they saw a vehicle parked in front of the emergency bay with the passenger side window shattered. Police say inside the vehicle they found an adult male and an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say the man died of his injuries and the woman was taken to another hospital where she was admitted in stable condition.

Police say they subsequently linked the victims to a report of a shooting in the 3300 block of 23rd Street SE.

Police have not released the name of the man who died.
