BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in Bloomington say a 21-year-old say a man was hospitalized after he impaled his leg on an aluminum fence at a bar.

Sgt. Brandon Hudson says the Bloomington Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the bar around 9 p.m. on Friday, but no hazard was found and patrons were allowed back in. Some patrons jumped or climbed over the fencing that surrounds the bar’s outdoor seating to get back in. That’s when the man got stuck.

The Bloomington Herald-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1W1iiMC ) firefighters on the scene were called to help the man, whose upper body was being supported by bystanders.

Firefighters freed the man by cutting a piece of the fence and he was taken to the hospital.
