ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - The Coast Guard has come to the aid of a ship captain who was injured aboard his vessel off the southern New Jersey coast.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City responded to the 274-meter-long Almi Voyager motor transport on Saturday. The vessel was 356 miles east of Cape May at the time.

Officials say the captain suffered a leg injury, though it wasn’t clear how he was injured. His name was not released.

The helicopter crew was able to hoist the captain to the aircraft and flew him to a hospital. He was in stable condition, but further details on his status were not disclosed Sunday.
