LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - A La Crosse man is charged with fatally stabbing his wife.

Prosecutors Monday charged 35-year-old Haron Joyner with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 29-year-old Jessica Joyner.

The La Crosse Tribune (https://bit.ly/1QBTCdA ) reports Haron Joyner appeared in court and is jailed on a $100,000 cash bond.

According to court records, Joyner stabbed his wife in front of five children late Sunday at the couple’s apartment. According to the complaint, Joyner stabbed his wife in the neck, face and chest six or seven times before she escaped to an apartment across the hall. She collapsed, telling the tenant that someone had tried to kill her.

Jessica Joyner died at a hospital early Monday. Her husband works in the newspaper’s packaging department.

Joyner is due back in court March 15.
