PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say two Jefferson County jailers have been charged with sexually assaulting a female detainee.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement Sunday that the men were arrested a day earlier after a witness reported they assaulted the victim in a detention center bathroom.

The statement says 18-year-old James Ferguson of White Hall and 25-year-old Lafarius Hoskins of Conway are charged with third-degree sexual assault.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports both men are being held without bond. It wasn’t immediately clear if they had attorneys who could comment on their behalf.

The sheriff’s department says the men are on paid administrative leave pending the completion of an internal review and the criminal investigation.
