PIEDMONT, S.C. (AP) - Three people have died in a single-vehicle crash in Piedmont just off Interstate 85 in Anderson County.

Authorities tell local media that a fourth person was critically injured in the crash which occurred when a car swerved off the road, hit several trees and went down an embankment about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says the driver of the car, 18-year-old Danielle Williams, was killed in the accident as was 21-year-old Kayla Mann. The third victim was 17-year-old Lance Jones. Another male in the car is hospitalized in critical condition.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
