CURRENT POSITION - Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit

PROFESSIONAL - Before becoming a federal judge in 2010, Wilkins worked at a law firm and served as a public defender in Washington. He was elevated to the appeals court in 2014.

EDUCATION - A degree in chemical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, Harvard Law School.

FAMILY - Married, two sons

OF NOTE - Advocated for the construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, set to open in Washington in September.
