TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - For the third time in two months, important equipment was taken from a flood-warning gaging station on the White River near Pacific, Washington.

The equipment theft forced the shutdown of the station, which is vital to protect life and property in Pacific and the surrounding area.

The U.S. Geological Survey said Monday that the latest theft occurred at about 3 a.m. on March 3.

Pacific police are investigating the cases and the stations are being closely watched.
