KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - A gospel music concert is being held later this month to benefit a woman wounded in a series of shootings in the Kalamazoo area.

Tiana Carruthers was the first victim in the Feb. 20 shootings that killed six people and wounded two others. A doctor plans to talk to reporters about Carruthers’ health status on Tuesday.

The Kalamazoo Gazette (https://bit.ly/1QCZcMK ) reports the benefit concert for Carruthers is being held March 18 at Galilee Baptist Church. Organizer Jermaine Jackson says the concert is meant to honor Carruthers and “give the community a way to heal through music.”

Jackson says there will be local musicians and others from the Chicago area.
