HAMILTON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a star soccer player for Notre Dame High School was struck and killed by a train in Hamilton.

A New Jersey Transit spokesman says 18-year-old Jacob St. Phard was hit on Sunday night by a train that was heading to Morrisville, Pennsylvania, for maintenance. Officials don’t know why he was on the tracks.

NJ.com (bit.ly/1p2shGI) reports St. Phard was a senior at the school in Lawrence Township and had recently committed to play soccer for Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.
