DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Attorneys for an anti-abortion group who successfully challenged part of an Iowa campaign finance disclosure law will be reimbursed nearly $300,000 by taxpayers.

The State Appeals Board agreed Monday to the payout of legal fees to Iowa Right to Life, which had been ordered last month by a federal judge.

The Bopp Law Firm of Terre Haute, Indiana will receive $271,000 while Des Moines-based BrownWinick will get $28,000.

The lawsuit invalidated parts of a 2010 law that required advocacy groups to file more disclosure reports about their election activity. But other parts of the law were upheld.

Because the plaintiffs were partially successful, the state was required to cover some of their attorneys’ fees. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Pratt ruled last month that their request for $298,000 was reasonable.
