JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi has three congressional primaries Tuesday - two Republican and one Democratic.

In the northern 1st District, Republican U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly of Tupelo is challenged by Paul Clover of Olive Branch. Kelly won a June 2015 special election to fill a vacancy left by the death of Republican Rep. Alan Nunnelee. Clover, a Navy veteran, is making his first run for public office.

In the central 3rd District, Republican U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper is challenged by Jimmy Giles of Pearl. Harper was first elected in 2008. Giles is a beekeeper.

Also in the 3rd District, the Democratic primary is between Dennis C. Quinn of Magnolia and Nathan Stewart of Rankin County.
