BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York woman has pleaded guilty in a fatal 72-mph crash that happened in a 30-mph speed zone.

Prosecutors say the speeding driver was high on cleaning chemicals at the time.

Authorities say 72-year-old Carol Dion was killed when her car was struck head on by a pick-up truck that crossed into her lane on a residential street in the Buffalo suburb of Depew in September.

The Erie County District Attorney’s office says the pick-up’s driver, 26-year-old Sarah Skotnicki, pleaded guilty Monday to criminally negligent homicide.

Prosecutors say Skotnicki had inhaled difloroethane from a stolen can of Endust cleaner and was going more than 72 mph at the time of the crash. She broke a leg and foot.

Skotnicki faces up to four years in prison.
