CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Niobrara County coroner has been accused of defrauding Medicaid of more than $50,000.

Lisa Mellott has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of Medicaid fraud and four counts of forgery.

A trial date has not been set.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1TZFE7s ) that authorities accuse Mellott of billing Medicaid for services that she did not provide to patients of a local home health care service.

Investigators charge that she forged her clients’ signatures on forms that indicated she had rendered services warranting Medicaid reimbursement.

According to court documents, Mellott additionally faces a misdemeanor charge of elder abuse in Niobrara County Circuit Court.

Mellott has pleaded not guilty to that charge as well and a trial is set for March 29.
