PELHAM, N.Y. (AP) - Students and staff at Pelham, New York schools have been evacuated as a precaution after a caller made a bomb threat.

A spokeswoman, Maria Slippen, says classes were under way when the call was received sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. Monday.

She said students and staff in the adjoining high school, middle school and business offices were all evacuated in a “very orderly fashion” to pre-determined locations.

First responders were checking to make sure the school facilities were all safe.

The evacuation continued at lunchtime. Food was being provided for the students.
