FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) - State police on Long Island say they were able to track down a drunken driver who was using a video streaming app to broadcast himself while he was on the road.

They say Ahmed Almalki was arrested early Sunday and charged with DWI.

State police in Farmingdale say they received several calls reporting an erratic driver on Ocean Parkway. Investigators say they were able to use the live video feed from the Oyster Bay man’s Periscope account to determine his location.

Police say Almalki failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

Newsday says Almalki couldn’t be reached for comment. It was unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.

He’s due back in court on March 14.
