APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP) - Sheriff’s departments from Maricopa and Pinal counties teamed up to rescue an injured hiker stranded in the Superstition Mountains.

KPHO-TV (https://goo.gl/8TzIai ) reports that the hiker suffered several broken bones when he fell off a small cliff Sunday.

Two friends who had been hiking with the man called for help after he didn’t hike down.

A search and rescue team from Pinal County located the man early Monday morning.

The group stayed with the injured hiker until after daybreak when a Maricopa County helicopter hoisted him up in a litter basket and flew him off the mountain.
