WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - This week is Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week in South Carolina.

State and federal officials are drawing attention to the dangers of severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and flooding during a Monday news conference at the State Emergency Operations Center in West Columbia.

Those participating in the briefing include the state’s adjutant general, the director of the state Emergency Management Division and forecasters from the National Weather Service for the briefing.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service is conducting its annual statewide tornado drill.
