LAMBS GROVE, Iowa (AP) - A man has been arrested after authorities say he led them on a 30-mile chase in which he fired a gun in central Iowa.

Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Nathan Ludwig says the man began leading police on the chase on north U.S. Highway 65 in Pleasant Hill, then east on Interstate 80. He crashed his vehicle in Lambs Grove, outside of Newton, around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The man is expected to face a weapons-related charge in Polk County and chase- and crash-related charges in Jasper County.

Ludwig says the suspect fired a gun during the pursuit. He says it’s unclear whether he fired the weapon at officers or into the air.

The suspect was transported to a hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
