LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a 17-year-old drowned while swimming with friends in a southwest Florida lake.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Elaundre Ahmed Foster began having trouble swimming and went under water on Saturday evening. Several people tried to rescue him, but couldn’t find him in the water.

The News-Press (newspr.es/1UMzc37) reports sheriff’s deputies, fire rescue crews and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission began searching for Foster. His body was recovered around 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said there were no signs of foul play.
