LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Sun Belt Conference has announced that Arkansas-Little Rock first-year coach Chris Beard has been voted the conference’s Coach of the Year after leading the school on a dramatic one-season turnaround.

The Trojans (27-4, 17-3 Sun Belt) enter this week’s conference tournament as the top seed and have already set a school record for victories in a season - coming a year after the school finished 13-18 overall.

Beard was hired by Arkansas-Little Rock last year after two seasons at Angelo State, where he was a combined 47-15.

The Trojans began this season 10-0, including wins at San Diego State, Tulsa and DePaul, and are hopeful of reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.
