SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco Unified School District officials say a stray bullet went through the window of an empty kindergarten classroom.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1Lbo6D0 ) that district spokeswoman Gentle Blythe says Visitacion Valley Elementary School was on lockdown after gunshots were reported nearby on Monday morning.

No one was injured and no students were aware of the gunfire. The bullet went through a window in a part of school under construction. The classroom was empty and officials say only constructions workers saw the incident.

Police are investigating the incident.

The district says counseling will be available for any students who learn about the incident and want to discuss it.
