GONZALES, La. (AP) - Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a former deputy on a count of aggravated assault with a firearm after he allegedly pointed a handgun at customers in a bar late last month.

Lt. Col. Bobby Webre tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1UPD9UU) 37-year-old Mike Renaud, of Geismar, is accused of getting into an argument Feb. 26 with employees of the Southpaws Daiquiri Shop in Geismar, then pulling out a handgun and pointing it at several customers before leaving.

Webre says Renaud also was booked Friday on a count of possession of a firearm on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet.

Webre says Renaud was released on $15,000 bail Friday.

Allison Hudson, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said Monday that Renaud is a former deputy.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for him.
