LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Albany County officials are seeking funds to replace a jail plumbing system that is increasingly at risk of catastrophic failure.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1RQ9Crn) the Albany County Detention Center houses prisoners as well as the communications center for city and county police, fire and medical agencies.

Sheriff Dave O’Malley says some of the plumbing system’s parts are so old they cannot be replaced.

One cost estimate puts the detention center’s plumbing price tag at $125,000.

Officials are applying for a $150,000 Albany County Jail Overage fund grant that will be partially matched by the county.

The county plans to go out for bids in July and finish construction by December if the grant is approved.
