WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - The man accused of killing a man in Wilmington nearly four years ago wants his attorney replaced.

The StarNews of Wilmington reported (https://bit.ly/1THqhRK ) that 38-year-old Nashid Porter on Monday asked that New Hanover County Public Defender Jennifer Harjo be replaced as his attorney.

Porter is charged with killing 32-year-old Brian Grant in July 2012.

Porter also is charged with killing Obediah Hester in Duplin County in 2014. Hester was to be a witness against Porter in the New Hanover County trial. Porter was being electronically monitored at the time.

New Hanover District Attorney Ben David says Duplin County prosecutors plan to seek a death sentence if Porter is convicted. That case will not be tried until after the New Hanover case is resolved. That trial is scheduled May 31.
