SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police have released the names of the three people killed when their car crashed into a tree along a main thoroughfare in Syracuse.

The Syracuse Police Department says Tuesday that 25-year-old Jahlmiria Jones was driving on Erie Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Monday when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, which jumped the curb in the median and hit a tree.

Police say one of the three passengers, 22-year-old Heaven Downs of Syracuse, was able to call 911, as did a city public works employee who was near the crash scene.

Jones and her other two passengers, Maurice Watkins and Tiffeny Correa, both 19, were killed. All were from Syracuse.

Downs is listed in critical but stable condition at a Syracuse hospital.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
