YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - The city of Yonkers is expected to pay $67,500 to the family of a New York City man who was fatally shot by police in 2005.

The Journal News reports (https://lohud.us/1Lbas2w ) that the City Council is expected to vote on the proposed settlement on Tuesday.

Authorities say David Horn Sr. was killed in a hail of bullets by five officers in March 2005. Police say he tried to run them over with his SUV. Police had chased the 37-year-old for three miles.

Investigators say Horn rammed two police cars just before officers fired 27 times, killing him.

The payment would settle excessive force lawsuits filed by Horn’s family. A city spokeswoman says the city doesn’t admit any wrongdoing in the settlement.

An attorney for the Horn family declined to comment.
