The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have threatened to sink American ships if they approach Iranian waters. The senior naval officer making the threat referenced a “secret arsenal” of weapons Iran has developed or acquired that would be effective against American naval vessels.

Most likely the Iranians are referencing anti-ship missiles acquired from China or Russia, whose navies have long pursued a “carrier killer” missile capability to deter American power projection capabilities.

“We have informed Americans that their presence in the Persian Gulf is an absolute evil,” Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi stated to state media. “Americans are aware that Iran would destroy their warships if they take a wrong measure in the region.” He further threatened that the US would “lose control of everything” by drawing others into Middle East affairs, reported Israel National News. “There has never been normal conditions in the Persian Gulf and Americans can feel the presence of IRGC navy forces at any spot,” he added. “Iran’s great power has forced US to consider creation of deterrent capabilities.”

Perhaps Rear Adm. Fadavi is part of the “moderate” regime elements that Ben Rhodes of White House fame so spectacularly admitted to the world recently, that he had imagined in his own mind and fed these imaginary negotiating partners to the media and the American public. In the real world that most of us live in, this Iranian threat is just more evidence of the absolute treachery that the administration pursued in “negotiating” the Iranian nuclear deal. It is painfully obvious that the “deal” was really a sustained push to give Iran the bomb to threaten America and her allies long in the future. Our children will suffer for this man’s lies.
