The Secret Service is reportedly investigating the Facebook rantings of Anthony Senecal, Donald Trump’s former butler who worked for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for nearly 30 years.

“[President Obama] should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term !!!!!” Mr. Senecal wrote Wednesday in a post first flagged by Mother Jones, a liberal magazine.

In April of last year, he reportedly wrote that the president “needs to be hung for treason.”

“[W]ith the last breath I draw I will help rid this America of the scum infested in its government—and if that means dragging that [expletive] from the white mosque and hanging his scrawny ass from the portico—count me in !!!!!” he reportedly wrote a month later.

Though Mr. Senecal’s Facebook page is public, his messages could only be read by his Facebook friends, Mother Jones reported. Mr. Senecal later confirmed to the publication that those were his words.

“I wrote that. I believe that,” he said.

In a statement to Gawker, a Secret Service spokesperson said they are “aware of this matter and will conduct the appropriate investigation.”

The New York Times profiled Mr. Senecal in March, saying he tried to retire in 2009, but Mr. Trump decided he was irreplaceable and kept him around as a kind of unofficial historian at Mar-a-Lago.

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign told Mother Jones: “This individual has not worked at Mar-a-Lago for many years.”
