BENTON, La. (AP) - The Bossier Parish School Board has finalized the contract of newly appointed superintendent Scott Smith.

The Times reports (https://bit.ly/1NCjebi ) that the board, at its meeting Thursday, discussed minor details of Smith’s contract, which begins July 1 and ends June 30, 2020. His annual base salary is $183,000.

Smith was named superintendent on May 3 after a nearly two-month search process to replace D.C. Machen, who is retiring. Smith has served as assistant superintendent for seven years. His current salary is $105,146.

As superintendent, Smith also will receive a monthly automobile allowance of $700 and will be responsible for providing his own vehicle and car insurance.

He’ll receive annual incentive pay of $10,000 if the school district receives a performance rating of ‘A’ from the state Department of Education.
