CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a 46-year-old man has been injured in an explosion inside his Cedar Rapids apartment.

Cedar Rapids television station KGAN reports (https://bit.ly/1RfInmw ) that the explosion happened around 5 p.m. Friday.

The Cedar Rapids bomb squad was called in to investigate. Investigators say they not determined the source of the blast, but a bomb squad robot was used at the scene to detonate an object.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital, and later airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

His name and other details have not been released.
