HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. (AP) - Two shootings in Helena-West Helena have left one person dead and another critically wounded.

Police Chief Virgil Green told reporters that the first shooting occurred on the city’s east side at a high school graduation party Friday night.

Green said officers were on the scene when fights and gunshots broke out. He said 19-year-old Devon Bridget was found with a gunshot wound and died after being taken to a hospital.

Green said the second victim arrived at the hospital shortly after Bridget and was later taken to a Memphis hospital in critical condition.

Green said the second shooting was on the city’s northwest side.

It was not immediately clear whether the shootings are believed to be related. Green said Arkansas State Police have been asked to help in the investigation.
