BARKHAMSTED, Conn. (AP) - A man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash.

Police say a vehicle attempted to make a left turn on Route 44 shortly before 9 p.m. Friday when it struck New Hartford resident Zachary Dube, who was operating a motorized scooter.

The 23-year-old Dube suffered serious injuries and was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was later transferred via helicopter to Hartford Hospital. Police said Saturday that Dube remains in critical condition.

State police say the driver that struck Dube fled the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
