GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist died after his cycle left the highway while passing another vehicle and crashed south of Gillette.

In a news release Saturday, the patrol identified the victim as 62-year-old Sherman Taylor of Gillette. The crash occurred at 5:00 p.m. Friday on State Highway 50 about 50 miles south of Gillette.

The patrol says Taylor was not wearing a helmet. His is the 18th highway death in Wyoming so far this year. Last year at this time, 47 highway deaths had been reported.
