TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Pima County are searching for an inmate who disappeared while serving on a work crew.

County Sheriff’s officials say 49-year-old Cathleen Stein was with an inmate work crew at the Pima Animal Care Center on Saturday when she went missing at about 8 a.m.

Detectives believe she simply walked away.

Stein is serving time for a probation violation.

She was due to be released next month.

Stein is described as white, 5-foot-8 and approximately 125 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes.

She was last seen wearing a red Pima County Jail uniform.
