PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say two Providence men smoked synthetic marijuana in a vehicle with one man’s child in the car.

State police arrested 27-year-old Corwin Tetreault and 38-year-old Hector Ortiz on Friday.

Tetreault is charged with possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute and related crimes. Ortiz is charged with neglect of a child and other crimes.

Troopers stopped a van driven by Tetreault for motor vehicle violations just before 11 a.m. Friday. Tetreault’s girlfriend, Ortiz and Ortiz’s 3-year-old son were also in the van.

Police say they found 351 packets of synthetic marijuana and $1,195 in cash in the vehicle.

Tetreault’s girlfriend told troopers the three adults had smoked synthetic marijuana in the van.

The men are scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

It’s unclear whether they have attorneys.
