SALINA, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating a head-on crash that killed a woman in upstate New York.

The Onondaga County sheriff’s office says the crash happened at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday in the town of Salina.

They say a Lincoln Continental traveling eastbound on Old Liverpool Road crossed over into the westbound lane and hit a Mercedes.

The driver of the Lincoln, a woman in her 60s, was extricated from her badly damaged car and taken to a hospital. She was pronounced dead there. Her name was not immediately released.

The driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.
