MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say an officer shot at the driver of a fleeing vehicle after he struck another officer while they were on foot patrol.

Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers saw a gun in a vehicle and tried to talk to the man inside. Police say that’s when the man drove toward the officer and struck him. The officer was not seriously injured.

A second officer fired his weapon at the driver of the fleeing vehicle. A police pursuit began, but responding officers lost sight of the driver. A short time later the vehicle was found and a man was arrested.

Police say they’re investigating and haven’t said whether anyone in the fleeing auto was struck by gunfire.
