HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police officers and government officials will be gathering to dedicate a road in Hartford in memory of late State Capitol Police Chief Michael Fallon.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday morning outside the state armory. Authorities will dedicate a driveway next to the armory as Chief Michael J. Fallon Way.

Fallon died of cancer in 2009 at age 47. His death shocked the department because it was sudden. He left behind a wife and two children, who were in high school and middle school at the time.

Fallon was named chief of Capitol Police in 2006 after 23 years with the Hartford Police Department, where he worked his way up to assistant police chief.

Expected to attend the dedication are Fallon’s relatives and officers with Capitol Police and Hartford Police.
