CINCINNATI (AP) - Tourism and convention officials in the Cincinnati region are celebrating the decision of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to bring its 2024 general conference to the city.

The Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau expects 20,000 people to attend, booking 26,000 hotel room nights and spending millions of dollars.

They say it’s one of the largest bookings since Cincinnati hosted the 2012 World Choir Games.

Bureau CEO Dan Lincoln says it has made landing religious and multicultural meetings a priority. He called the AME “one of the most influential and venerated religious organizations in the world.”
