DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a body was found underneath a car in a parking lot behind a Daytona Beach Toys R Us.

Police Chief Mike Chitwood says the body was likely connected to a hit-and-run crash from Saturday night. He said the driver from the hit and run may have tried to check for damage underneath his vehicle before it rolled on top of him.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://tinyurl.com/guotef3 ) reports a customer spotted the car in the parking lot, which is about three miles from the crash site, on Sunday morning. Authorities said the vehicle was heavily damaged.

Authorities did not identify the victim, saying only that he was a white male.
