WAGNER, S.D. (AP) - A Wagner couple has been sentenced to prison for stealing more than $7,600 from an auto shop and convenience store in Wagner.

The Daily Republic reports (https://bit.ly/1W0WKDv ) that 33-year-old Dean Honomichl was sentenced to five years for third-degree burglary. Thirty-six-year-old Tara Smejkal-Honomichl was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but 18 months suspended, for aiding and abetting a third-degree burglary.

Prosecutors say Smejkal-Honomichl on Sept. 25 drove Honomichl to her previous employer, Weisser Oil, and Honomichl broke into the building and took the money. Weisser Oil’s owners were forced to sell the 37-year-old business, which now operates under new ownership.

Honomichl and Smejkal-Honomichl were remanded to the sheriff’s custody and ordered to pay in restitution to brothers Gregg and Brian Weisser, Weisser Oil’s former owners.
