NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Louisiana’s health secretary will join Louisiana State University medical and public health experts on a panel to talk about the Zika virus and what Gulf Coast residents need to know before it arrives.

The free event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the LSU Health New Orleans Human Development Center’s auditorium. It’s open to the public, medical professionals, elected officials, health policymakers and the academic community.

In addition to Secretary Rebekah Gee, the five panelists will include neurology professor John England, who is chair of the World Federation of Neurology’s Zika workgroup, and Dr. James Diaz, who participated in a February Zika preparation meeting organized by the Institute of Medicine.
